About This Tour
The In Depth Jewish Heritage Israel tour will lead you through the land of Israel from a Jewish Heritage perspective. Travelers on this wonderful journey will become acquainted with Israel’s most important cultural, biblical and historical sites as well as modern Israel.
Please note that America Israel Tours does not operate this weekly tour. There are many tour companies in the U.S. and in Israel with whom you can book this exact tour. Therefore, whether you book this tour with us or with any other tour company, you will ultimately be on the same tour bus. Day 2 - Friday
Arrival
- Upon arrival at Ben Gurion International Airport and after passport control, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Tel Aviv for check-in.
- The rest of the day will be free to enjoy the hotel and the nearby famous Tel Aviv promenade.

Day 3 - Saturday
Free Day
- Enjoy a free day of Shabbat! You may explore Tel Aviv, the city that never sleeps!
- Discover the famous boardwalk along the Mediterranean Sea or take a walk in Old City Jaffa.
- Tel Aviv is home to numerous art galleries, cafes, and museums, as well as the beach! The Tel Aviv Museum of Art is a very highly rated institution, while the Eretz Israel Museum offers a historical perspective on the history of Tel Aviv.
- For those who prefer to shop, there are several shopping malls that open after the end of Shabbat till late night.
- Stroll along the famous tree lined Rothschild Boulevard, and take in the magnificent villas and buildings occupying the most expensive real estate in Tel Aviv.
Day 4
Day 4 - Sunday
From Tel Aviv to the Galilee
- Head north to Caesarea, once the illustrious Roman capital of the region. Immerse yourself in its remarkably preserved ancient ruins, marvel at the ingenious Roman aqueduct, and experience the vibrant ambiance of the restored Roman theater. Here, ancient splendor blends with modern vitality against the Mediterranean backdrop.
- Continue to Haifa for breathtaking panoramic views of the golden-domed Bahai Shrine and lush gardens overlooking Haifa Bay.
- Drive to Acre, a UNESCO World Heritage site steeped in rich Jewish history. Explore its historic port, vibrant market, and sites reflecting the city’s diverse past. Visit the underground Crusader’s City.
- Your journey then leads to Beit Shearim, another UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its extensive Jewish necropolis and intricate catacombs. The city once served as seat of Sanhedrin. Discover insights into Roman and Byzantine Jewish burial practices and delve into the cultural heritage of this ancient site. Dinner at the Kibbutz is included.
Day 5
Day 5 - Monday
Upper Galilee & Golan Heights
- Visit Safed, one of Israel’s four holy cities and a hub for the Kabbalah movement. Explore the historic Caro and Ha’ Ari synagogues. Stroll through the narrow alleyways that lend Safed its unique charm. Discover the vibrant Artist Quarter with its galleries and studios.
- Next, enjoy a Jeep tour at the foot of the Golan Heights, offering breathtaking views and thrilling off-road adventures. Ascend to the Golan Heights for a magnificent observation point with sweeping views of Quneitra and the Syrian territory.
- Conclude the day at Tel Faher, a former Syrian outpost from the Six-Day War, offering poignant insights and spectacular views over the Upper Galilee.
Day 6
Day 6 - Tuesday
From the Galilee to Jerusalem
- Visit Hamat Tiberias, a National Park displaying one of the most spectacular mosaics of an ancient synagogue in Israel. Also famous for its ancient therapeutic hot springs known for centuries as a place of relaxation and rejuvenation.
- Continue to Beit She’an, a significant archaeological site and ancient city from the Roman period. Tour the well-preserved amphitheater, Byzantine bathhouses, the grand public fountain and colonnaded streets.
- Drive through the Jordan Valley and stop at the Jordan Valley Brigade Monument, commemorating the soldiers who defended the area. Proceed to the sacred city of Jerusalem, pausing at Mount Scopus for reflection and a blessing as you enter this deeply spiritual and historically significant city.
Day 7
Day 7 - Wednesday
Jerusalem Old City
- Embark on a remarkable journey to the Tomb of King David, nestled on majestic Mt. Zion. Enter the Old City and wander along the ancient Cardo, the vibrant heart of the Roman City.
- Discover the Four Sephardic Synagogues in the Jewish Quarter, meticulously restored after the 1967 war, each preserving rich Sephardic heritage. Visit the Kotel, the Western Wall, the last remains of the Holy Temple, and a cornerstone of Jewish faith. Touch the ancient stones and join countless visitors in a moment of profound reflection.
- Explore the Western Wall Tunnels, uncovering secrets beneath this sacred site.
- Immerse yourself in history at the Davidson Center’s archaeological park, where ancient remnants come to life.
- Conclude with a visit to the Tower of David Museum, where Jerusalem’s captivating history unfolds with remnants dating back to the First Temple period.
Day 8
Day 8 - Thursday
Jerusalem Old & New City
- Today we will drive to the esteemed Israel Museum and explore the remarkable Shrine of the Book, where the ancient Dead Sea Scrolls are displayed. Marvel at the intricate miniature model of Jerusalem during the Second Temple period.
- Pass by the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, and proceed to Mount Herzl, Israel’s national and military cemetery named after Theodor Herzl, burial place to many of the nation’s leaders and heroes.
- Pay respects at Yad Vashem, the official memorial to the Holocaust.
- Dive deeper into Jerusalem’s history with a tour of its vibrant New City neighborhoods. Wander through narrow alleys, listen to captivating tales, and uncover the rich tapestry of the city’s past that shaped its foundations.

*Optional Bar/Bat Mitzvah Ceremony – For families who wish to celebrate a Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremony at the Western Wall, the option is available. This is an amazing, once in a lifetime opportunity. While the rest of the group tours Mea Shearim, arrangements will be made at the Western or Southern Wall with an Israeli rabbi. At the end of the service, you will be transferred to the current location of the group. Please call us for more details about this special option.
Day 9
Day 9 - Friday
Dead Sea & the Judean Desert
- Head out on a scenic drive through the picturesque Judean Desert towards the mesmerizing
Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth. - Begin your adventure with a visit to the ancient synagogue at Ein Gedi, where intriguing tales of the town’s secrets await.
- Continue to Masada, where you will ascend the mountain fortress built by King Herod via cable car. Explore the remarkable ruins, including walls, palaces, a synagogue, and a bathhouse, which witnessed the heroic last stand of the Zealots against the Romans.
- After soaking in Masada’s rich history, descend by cable car and enjoy lunch at a leading hotel with rejuvenating spa facilities. Conclude your day by floating in the mineral-rich waters of the Dead Sea for a unique and invigorating experience.
- We will return to Jerusalem for the evening.

Day 11
Day 11 - Sunday
Negev Desert / Eilat
- Leave Jerusalem and enjoy a captivating southbound journey through the Negev Desert.
- Make a stop at Timna, a vast geological and archaeological park, where you will be enchanted by the breathtaking multi-colored rock formations and fascinating copper mines. Do not miss the chance to witness the impressive Solomon’s Pillars, adding a touch of historical wonder to your experience. See the Methuselah Tree in Ktura, a date palm grown from a 2,000-year-old seed found at Masada, symbolizing ancient life revived.
- Continue your expedition to the vibrant city of Eilat, nestled on the northern shores of the Red Sea. Discover the remarkable Underwater Observatory Marine Park, ingeniously built into a coral reef, offering you an up-close and immersive encounter with the vibrant marine life of the Gulf of Eilat, leaving you with unforgettable memories of the wonders that lie beneath the Red Sea’s surface.
Day 12
Day 12 - Monday
Eilat
- After breakfast enjoy a free day in Eilat. This resort city lies on the shores of the Red Sea, Israel’s most southern point.
- On a clear day you can see neighboring Jordan and Egypt.
- You can swim in the Red Sea, or enjoy other water activities, including numerous ecological preserves.
- You can even meet and pet dolphins at Dolphin Reef!
- For those who prefer to be on the water and not in it, there’s yacht sailing.
- There are camel tours, AV tours, and Jeep tours of the scenic desert, and so much more!
- There are also the beautiful botanical gardens, and several amusement parks for the kids in you.
Optional Day Tour to Petra, Jordan including Lunch:
After breakfast, enjoy a full Day tour to the ancient city of Petra, Jordan. You will be transferred from your hotel to the Arava border point, cross into Jordan, and drive to Petra. Petra was established possibly as early as 312 BC, though it was only rediscovered in 1812. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it was also chosen as one of the Smithsonian’s ’28 Places to See Before You Die’ list. A visit to Petra is one of the true highlights of any trip to the Middle East, with its red tinged city carved by the Nabataeans out of solid rocks, remaining exquisitely preserved even to this day. Petra can be entered on foot or in horse drawn carriage. After your visit to Petra, we will stop for lunch in a local restaurant before returning to the border. If time permits, we will also make a short stop in Aqaba before crossing into Eilat.
- At the end of the day, you will be driven back to the Arava border and transferred back to your hotel in Eilat.
Day 13
Day 13 - Tuesday
Mitzpe Ramon
RAMON CRATER / BEN GURION’S HUT & GRAVE / BEDOUIN HOSPITALITY
- Leave Eilat behind and head to Mitzpe Ramon. Take a captivating pause to marvel at the geological wonder of the Ramon Crater; visit the remarkable visitors’ center, which offers unique insights into this extraordinary natural formation.
- Drive to Sde Boker, and stop at David Ben Gurion’s, Israel’s first prime minister, hut and grave. Enjoy a breathtaking view overlooking the magnificent Zin Valley.
- Conclude your tour at an authentic Bedouin tent to learn about the rich culture of these desert nomadic tribes and enjoy a delightful light lunch.
Day 14
Day 14 - Wednesday
Departure
- After breakfast you will be transferred to Ben Gurion International Airport for your transatlantic flight back to the USA. Take home your fond memories of Israel that will last a lifetime, and start planning your next trip!
